General Waiver, Code of Conduct, and Media Release
- Listserv Use
- The CARL listserv is a professional communication tool. Members agree to use the listserv only for professional purposes connected to refugee and immigration law, including sharing resources, seeking input on work-related questions, and providing respectful responses. Members must not use the listserv for: personal disputes or arguments; offensive, defamatory, or discriminatory remarks; commercial advertising or solicitation. CARL reserves the right to moderate or restrict listserv access for members who do not comply with these guidelines.
- Professional Conduct
- I agree to maintain professionalism and civility in all CARL-related forums, events, and communications. I will respect the diversity of backgrounds, perspectives, and experiences within CARL. I understand that CARL may take reasonable steps, including revoking membership or participation, if I breach these expectations.
- Media and Photography Release
- I consent to CARL taking photographs, video, or audio recordings at CARL events (including conferences, meetings, and workshops). I grant CARL the right to use these materials in CARL publications, social media, websites, promotional materials, and reports, without compensation. If I do not wish to appear in such materials, I will notify CARL in advance and make reasonable efforts to avoid cameras at events.
- Liability Waiver
- I release and hold harmless CARL, its officers, directors, employees, and volunteers from any claims or liability arising from my participation in CARL activities, including online communications, except where caused by CARL’s gross negligence or willful misconduct.
By maintaining my membership in CARL, I acknowledge that I have read, understood, and agreed to this General Waiver, Code of Conduct, and Media Release.
